My 26th Birthday in Korea!

Well this is the birthday where you have nothing to look forward too. I believe turning 25 is the last exciting birthday because you can rent vehicles for a cheaper rate.

My 26th birthday was really fun though! We basically stayed in a 2 mile radius of our home. First we went bowling.... too funny. Definitely want to start a bowling team here.

They all wear these bowling wrist guards....

and have some pretty good bowling moves.

Then we all headed for dinner. Whitney ended up taking a picture and this is what the sky looked like..

Supposedly there was a warning that night: do not leave your home because the yellow dust is bad. OOPS

Wikipedia definition: Yellow dust is a seasonal meteorological phenomenon which affects much of East Asia sporadically during the springtime months. The dust originates in the deserts of Mongolia where high-speed surface winds and intense dust storms kick up dense clouds of fine, dry soil particles. Sulfur (an acid rain component), soot, ash, carbon monoxide, and other toxic pollutants including heavy metals (such as mercury, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, lead, zinc, copper) and other carcinogens, often accompany the dust storms, as well as viruses, bacteria, fungi, pesticides, antibiotics, asbestos, herbicides, plastic ingredients, combustion products as well as hormone mimicking phthalates.

Here is a picture of the yellow dust on a car the next day. This is what we breath in.. gross. Everyone wears face masks.

mmmmm galbi.. my favourite! This is where we always go for galbi (Korean bbq). I thought Lanna would not be able to enjoy galbi because of being vegetarian in all.. but it turned out to be her favourite - salad, barbecued onion and garlic, and they even made a fresh new pot of doenjang jjigae without meat broth!!

After delicious galbi, Whitney, Lanna and I went to a Noraebang (karaoke room). You rent a room and sing karaoke. They have really good songs, 2 microphones, and 2 tambourines. All I can say is GOOD TIMES!!

I couldn't have asked for a better Korean birthday!!
